Shhh: These 17 Dogs Are Trying To Study!

| Published on March 15, 2021

When I was a kid, my dog Dudley laid his paws on top of an open book, making it look almost like he was reading. I couldn’t get over how human he seemed, and I had to snap a picture of Dudley “reading.” Of course, I’m not the only dog person to make this association. Dogs “studying” is actually its own kind of photography.

Here are just 17 brilliant examples of studious pups who are clearly learning and absorbing the books they’re lying upon:

1. Paws-On Learning

Dr. Marie-Amelie George, a law school professor, got the conversation going on Twitter. She shared this photo of a little Dachshund putting its teeny paws on a thick book, explaining:

“I ask my students to send me photos of their dogs doing class work. It’s an under-appreciated photography genre.”

2. Keeping Up Appearances

This learned pup just wants to ensure her brand is strong and her looks are breed standard.

3. “He has his own work area…. A bit small though.”

They say it’s important to separate the place you work from the place you relax, so this dog has his own study area.

4. Paw & Order

The Tweeter who shared this photo explained:

“When I was in law school, my dog was fascinated by admiralty law. Cute study buddy, a little weak on determination of status for workers at sea.”

5. Next Slide Please

Poor little Pug got wiped out trying to cram.

8. Those Aren’t Reading Glasses

@KorinneRiccardo/Twitter

When you don’t have reading glasses to pose your “studying” dog with, sunglasses have to do.

9. Reading Through The Nose

It may be irrelevant to the text on the page, but the pup is learning some interesting things about the book itself through sniffs.

10. Hm, Fascinating!

This Westie is very enthralled by whatever it is he’s studying up on.

11. “What’s a synonym for ‘good boy?'”

Anyone? Someone help a good boy out.

12. Writing Your Notes Down Helps Memory!

This dog will absorb the information on the screen better by writing it down on paper. Surely that’s what he’s doing here.

13. This Pup Just Learned We’re All Made Of Star Stuff

He’s really thinking about life in a whole new way now.

14. “Is The Internet Down For Anyone Else?”

It’s all there on this confused dog’s face.

17. Human History Is Complicated

Dog history is much simpler. Dog meet man, dog love man, dog become man friend. The end.
