A small wounded puppy longing for love faced unimaginable cruelty from the people he trusted most. His owners wrapped him in a T-shirt, tied him to a fence, and abandoned him without a shred of compassion. Left alone and terrified, the heartbroken pup cried out, hoping that someone kind would find him and offer him the help he so desperately needed. Michael Favor, the founder of Pitbulls and Addicts, a rescue organization in New York, was stunned when he received a message about an emaciated dog left tied to a fence.

Without hesitation, Favor raced to the scene, his mind filled with concern for the helpless animal. When he arrived, his worst fears were confirmed. The pup was curled up under a bush, his eyes pleading for someone to save him. The dog, later named Teddy, was in terrible condition—starved, covered in sores, and suffering from infections.

Favor wasted no time in freeing Teddy from his restraints. He cradled the frightened dog, offering the comfort he had been denied for so long. After gently placing him in the car, Teddy, still disbelieving of his newfound freedom, sniffed Favor’s hands with eyes full of sorrow. It was as if Teddy couldn’t comprehend that he was finally safe.

Favor rushed Teddy to Bay Street Animal Hospital in Staten Island, where the dog received a thorough medical evaluation and immediate care. Teddy was admitted to the hospital, where he began receiving antibiotics and treatment for his sores. The hospital staff, charmed by his sweet nature, showered him with affection and encouragement, hoping to help him forget the cruelty he had endured.

With the kindness surrounding him, Teddy slowly began to feel secure. His eyes started to shine with happiness and gratitude, and each morning, he greeted his caregivers with a wagging tail. The staff at the hospital was captivated by Teddy’s warm spirit and the joy he brought to everyone around him. They continued to care for him, and Teddy, in return, covered them in kisses, showing his deep appreciation.

Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!

Once fully recovered, Teddy will move to Pitbulls and Addicts, where he will begin his search for a forever home. Teddy’s journey from abandonment to safety is a testament to the compassion of his rescuer and the dedication of his caregivers. Their love has given Teddy a second chance at a happy life.
