This Stray Dog Couldn’t Find A Home, So The Cops Who Found Him Adopted Him Instead!

| Published on May 6, 2016

Officers from the Kirtland Police Department responded to the call about a large stray dog was found roaming the streets of a neigborhood in Ohio.

But instead of sending the dog to the shelter, the cops tried to find his owners. They named him “John Doe Dog” or “JD”. They posted photos of JD on social media, but no one came to claim him.

When it seemed hopeless for JD to find a home, the cops did something wonderful. They decided to adopt him instead. They posted an announcement on Facebook saying that JD has been adopted by the police department.

Some of you may have followed the story of our stray John Doe Dog. We tried to find the owner of this marvelous animal to no avail. The folks here at the Police Department wanted a good home for JD (this is now his name) so with the permission of the Chief and the Mayor JD has been adopted by the Kirtland Police Association but they also share the warmth this stoic animal has brought with City Hall and the Fire Department. JD has fit into the environment as though he were here always. We are happy to have him in our department and our lives. He loves everyone and we love him.

The short video shows how JD transformed from a sad stray dog to a happy police department dog!

JD found a family with the Kirtland Police Department. JD is a very sweet dog, he loves everyone and everyone loves him. And he will be there to bring smiles to the officers and brighten their days.
