Is there anything better than seeing a soldier surprise their loved ones? You’ve seen those videos. The uniformed soldier hides just behind the door of a school or under a mascot costume at a baseball game. The delivery may be different but they all have one thing in common: They’re a sucker punch right in the feels! Now, in my humble opinion, one of the only things that can make one of these videos better is four more legs and a wagging tail.
Luckily, one mom in Greenville, Rhode Island captured a heart-melting reunion for all of us. As my grandmother would say: get your hankies ready!
What Do You Get When You Combine A Soldier And A Bullmastiff?
19-year-old Jason Floyd was away for a grueling 14 months! He left as a young man and returned home as a trained Army soldier. Nobody was bursting more with pride than Jaxson. Sweet Jaxson is a gentle giant. He’s a Bullmastiff who had lived the last year without his best friend by his side. It was no easy feat. But, it was almost as if Jaxson knew that his BFF was away to do something great for his fellow man. As the days turned into weeks and then months, Jaxson became accustomed to not getting to snuggle with his buddy.
Jason and Jaxson’s mom got word that Jason would finally be coming home from training. The dynamic duo’s mom was able to keep it a surprise from Jaxson. Surely this was not an easy feat! She started recording as she asked a mid-stretch Jaxson if he was ready for a surprise. His tail began wagging as he immediately popped up and headed towards the door, almost as if he knew. It took Jaxson just a couple seconds to spot Jason lounging in a chair on the deck!
Nobody was more excited than Jaxson! When Jaxson laid eyes on Jason, he turned into a missile of fur and pure love. Jaxson propelled himself through the air as if he was a 160-pound rocket! Much to Jason’s delight, Jaxson pinned him down so that he could smother him with kisses. Jaxson was completely overwhelmed with emotion!
Their mom, Lisa, was moved by Jaxson’s overwhelming reaction.
“It was very heartwarming and loving. I was grateful to be able to capture that so we can always have that, you know, that moment,” she told CesarsWay.com.
Jaxson’s heart is the only thing bigger than his paws!
