Everyone, meet Phoenix–a Pit Bull who recovered after being set on fire by his previous owner, and is now helping a soldier cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

When Phoenix was just a pup, he was severely abused. His previous owner tied him to a tree, beat him badly, and even set him on fire. Despite all the horrible things that his scumbag owner did to him, he survived. Life has something special in store for Phoenix. He was rescued and was trained by a non-profit organization named C.A.M.O.

C.A.M.O. rescues dogs from local shelters and trains them to assist disabled war veterans. And the handlers at C.A.M.O. knew that Phoenix was truly special.

An Army Corporal named Derek Butler saw Phoenix as he was looking for a service dog to help him cope with his PTSD. The moment he saw Phoenix, he knew that was the dog he was looking for. Phoenix went through something traumatic like he did; they had something in common.

Phoenix is such an amazing dog. He’s a Pit Bull, and he’s went through a lot of suffering, but never did he show any signs of aggression.

Maybe Phoenix and Derek are really meant to be together. With the trauma and pain they’ve been through, they found comfort in each other. And that made their friendship even stronger and even more beautiful.
