Dogs Forced To Spend Their Lives Fighting Finally Feel Love From Humans

No dog, or any other animal for that matter, should ever have to suffer at the hands of a human being. It makes any compassionate person sad to hear of such cruelty, as animals (like small children) are defensive little beings that just want nothing to more than to give and receive love.

Recently in Cottonwood, Alabama, 65 dogs were rescued from a site that was not-so-secretly hog-fighting their dogs. These dogs desperately needed medical attention and were incredibly malnourished, cowering in barrels while tied to chains and shivering in fear. The dogs didn’t even have any food or water out to drink, emaciated to the point where all their ribs were clearly visible.

The dogs found on the property ranged in age from 4 months to teens, and are suffering from various health conditions…

We won’t go into much detail over what the hog-fighting actually is, but you get the idea that this is torture at it’s finest and unjust to both animals involved, and highly illegal, punishable by law as a Class C felony. But thankfully the Humane Society of the United States received a tip, and worked immediately to recover the dogs and bring them to safety.

“These dogs are lucky that the authorities responded quickly to this situation,” said Chris Schindler, manager of animal fighting investigations for the HSUS. “With the recent cold temperatures and the dogs’ poor condition, they needed immediate attention. We are glad to have been called in to assist in this case, and we will continue to be part of the investigation and prosecution process.”

The dogs are now on their way to recovery, but every little bit helps. If you’d like to make a donation, you can click here on the company website to be directed to their donation page. Once the dogs make a full recovery, they will be working with the Dogfighting Rescue Coalition (DRC) to find loving forever homes that are best suited for them and their needs.
