Every time you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, part of the profit goes to Greater Good Charities to help dogs in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program offers healthy meals and other essential supplies to shelters and rescues. Those donations help the organizations save even more dogs!

Hard Licker Ranch and Sanctuary of Michigan is one of the organizations that receives donations from the GOODS Program. They’ve rescued many dogs from neglectful situations, including two Bulldogs, Simon and Gizmo, and a Dogo Argentino, Winter.

Before and after Bulldog rescue

Simon, Gizmo, and Winter were rescued from a slum house in Detroit. Their owners had cropped their ears at home, which was likely a painful and traumatic experience. They had skin, eye, and ear infections along with overgrown nails. Some of them also had severe hyperkeratosis on their noses and paws.

At first, Winter was very fearful of human interactions, lowering her head at any sign of movement. It’s clear that all three dogs never got the love and care they deserved, but the rescue was determined to give them a second chance.

Once they were at the rescue, all three dogs came out of their shells and became more affectionate. They cuddled with their rescuers and asked for belly rubs, despite being mistreated by humans in the past.

Ready for Loving Homes

With donations from the GOODS Program, Winter, Gizmo, and Simon were able to have healthy meals while recovering from their rough pasts. Over time, their infections and hyperkeratosis healed, leaving them with healthy coats and smooth skin. Every day, they seemed happier and healthier now that they were in a safe environment.

Gizmo and Simon quickly found forever homes, so Winter was left behind for a little while. But then, after seeing how sweet she was in the rescue’s social media posts, a loving family stepped forward to adopt her too. The GOODS Program helped make these adoptions possible.

Food donated to Hard Licker Ranch and Sanctuary

“It has allowed us to feed our animals with great quality food to nourish them when they didn’t get that nutrition prior,” wrote Hard Licker Ranch and Sanctuary. “With GOODS, it has given us the ability to stretch our funds even further to get more spay and neuters and treating heartworm positive dogs.”

When you shop at the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Gizmo, Simon, and Winter. Woofey, Ace, Riley, and Block are the names of a few more of the many dogs this rescue has saved thanks to the GOODS Program. Thank you to all the kind heroes who have bought products to help dogs in need!
