Being an animal rescuer is both wholesome and rewarding. It’s no wonder we praise these kind people for helping animals in need. Rescuers and shelter staff strive to place as many pets as possible in a loving home. Sometimes, it’s a frustrating process, but thankfully, their tenacity often pays off. Witnessing a once-abandoned pup transform into a loving companion is a truly inspiring experience. The joy on their faces when they finally find their new family is priceless, and nothing compares to that feeling.
Lee Asher knows this feeling well, having rescued countless dogs over the years. But this time, he decided to take things to the next level. Lee made a special trip to Marion County Dog Services in Oregon with the intention of fostering not just one but five shelter dogs—a truly remarkable gesture.
Shelters play an incredible role in helping dogs find their forever homes, but they often face challenges like overcrowding, which makes their mission even harder. Recognizing the struggle to find homes for all these pups, Marion County Dog Services reached out to their partners for help, and that’s where Lee Asher stepped in.
When Lee arrived at the shelter, he was introduced to one of the dogs first. He was amazed by how healthy and sweet this dog was and couldn’t believe he had been waiting at the shelter for months. After taking the dog for a short walk, Lee noticed he was playful and full of life. It was clear that fostering him would be a joy.
Soon after, four more dogs were brought into the yard, and Lee had the chance to meet them all together. Each dog was healthy, cheerful, and full of personality—a testament to the excellent care they received from the Oregon shelter. The staff was delighted when Lee surprised them by announcing he would take an additional dog.
Lee was thrilled to meet all of the dogs and looked forward to bringing them home. Once the introductions were complete, it was time to head back to the Asher House. Lee carefully placed all six dogs in his car, ensuring they were comfortable for the journey. Upon returning to his property, he helped each of them settle in and relax, knowing they would soon meet more furry friends at the sanctuary.
Lee had no doubt that the new additions would get along wonderfully with the other animals at the Asher House. Their playful, loving natures would certainly help them fit right in.
What’s so wonderful is that Lee is in no rush to adopt out the dogs he takes in. He carefully searches for new families that are responsible and the perfect fit. If a dog can’t find a home, he/she joins the Asher pack and live out their years in a beautiful place filled with love, adventures, and kindness. Thank you, Lee, for all you do! You are an angel!
