Terminally Ill Dog Enjoying Each Day Thanks To Owner Who Created Special Bucket List

| February 16, 2016

When Emily of Brisbane, Australia found out her six-year-old Blue Heeler only had weeks to live, she could’ve stopped everything to mourn; instead, she’s helping her best friend Buddy check off his bucket list, while he’s still happy and full of life.

Just two weeks ago, Buddy was thought to be a normal, healthy dog. He was rescued from a shelter four years ago and has been by Emily’s side ever since. But their lives changed when he was diagnosed with severe lymphoma, a type of cancer, and given only four to six weeks to live.

Wanting to make his last weeks on earth special ones, Emily created an ambitious bucket list of 26 items for her canine companion to accomplish before he crosses over the rainbow bridge.

Here are the things that they’ve already checked off:

#1 – Go for a run on the beach

#7 – Eat a cooked steak dinner

#25 – Go out on a boat

#26 – Vist Noosa’s Dog Beach

#10 – A visit to the dog spa

#4 – Make it on the local news

#4 Done! Make it onto the local news! Thank you so very much to the amazing, Ehsan Knopf for making this possible!

And it looks like Buddy was the sweetest Valentine:

Because of the outpouring of support Emily has received, along with people who wanted to donate to help Buddy achieve his bucket list dreams, she has set up a GoFundMe page.

“A lot of people have been asking about donating towards the costs of his endeavours so I have set this up – all funds left over after he has passed will be donated to either the RSPCA or VSS to try help out other pets in need,” she wrote on the page. “Thank you all so much for your continued support of Buddy’s Bucket List; I have honestly been blown away by how kind, caring and supportive you have all been – thank you all!”

What an amazing way to celebrate the life and love of a loyal best friend! You can follow Buddy and Emily’s journey on their Facebook page, Buddy’s Bucket List, where she is also taking suggestions for more ideas to make their time together extra-special.

Emily, you are one amazingly courageous and caring dog owner. We wish you and Buddy the absolute best.
