Stray Dog Struck By A Car And Thought Dead Was Buried But Ends Up Digging Her Way Out

About a month ago in Washington, a stray dog who was thought to be dead dug her way out of her own grave.

Her name is Theia. Theia was a stray dog; she didn’t have any owners, but the people in the neighborhood looked after her and fed her.

One day Theia was struck by a car and left for dead. Her injuries were so bad that one of the neighbors thought that nothing could be done to help her, tried to give her a merciful death by hitting her head with a hammer, and buried her afterwards.

But a miracle happened! Despite her injuries, Theia wasn’t dead! The neighbors were shocked to see her wandering the streets looking for help.

Theia’s story was posted in Facebook, and a woman named Sara Mellado took her in, and asked a friend to take Theia to Washington State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Theia had a caved-in sinus cavity, dislocated jaw, and leg injuries. When the hospital learned of what Theia went through, the hospital’s Good Samaritan Fund committee donated $700 for her treatment.

Theia’s caved-in sinus cavity was caused by the hammer that hit her head. And because of that she has nasopharyngeal stenosis, restricting her airflow.

Theia needs surgery to help her breathe properly, but the operation is very expensive. An online fundraiser was setup to help Theia get the surgery she needed. A lot of donations poured in that they received more than their $10,000 goal! They were able to raise over $16,000 in a month!

We’re so glad that Theia can finally get the surgery that she needed. A big thank you to the people who helped her, especially to Sara Mellado who took her in! We hope Theia is gonna live a long life being taken cared of in a loving home that she deserves!
