After a long day of work, it’s normal for humans to grab a plate of food and head over to the couch. Time spent at home is ideal relaxing time for any humans with full-time jobs. But one clever dog also seems to think he deserves that chance to kick back and relax.

Murphy the Basset Hound loves to carry his dinner into the living room to have a comfortable meal. He sees his family relax as they eat all the time, so why can’t he have that same luxury? As it turns out, he can!

Murphy Eats in Style

Murphy used to live the life of a normal dog. His family would fill his food bowl in the kitchen and that’s where he would eat it. But over time, he began to realize that there was more to life.

First, he observed his human family members, who often ate their dinners on the couch as they watched TV. Murphy knew he was an important family member, so he aspired to eat in the living room with them. One day, he decided to make that dream a reality. He picked up his bowl of kibble and carried it into the living room.

To his surprise, his family didn’t stop him. He jumped up on the couch and curled up in a comfortable spot. They only stared at him in awe as he delicately set down his food bowl without spilling a single piece. Then, he munched on his food as he enjoyed a comfortable spot on the couch. At that moment, he knew he was living his life to the fullest.

One Spoiled Dog

Now that Murphy knows how to eat in style, he can’t go back to the way things were. So, day after day, he repeated his actions. He’d always carry his full food bowl all the way from the kitchen to the living room. His family members don’t mind it. In fact, they even encourage it.

Most of the time, Murphy’s food carrying skills are flawless. But every once in a while, he leaves a mess for his mom to clean up. Instead of redirecting his couch-loving behaviors, his mom Audrey Waito has actually made it easier for him.

“I started just putting his bowl on his spot on the couch,” said Waito. “He’s my other child. He’s quite spoiled.”

But spoiled is an understatement. This smart dog found a way to get all the benefits of a relaxing weeknight without having to go to work all day. It seems a bit unfair, but he’s adorable, so I guess we can forgive him!
