According to a 2015 survey conducted by Rover.com, 95% of dog owners purchase Christmas gifts for their pets, so it is no surprise that our puppy love has spread to other holidays.
This Halloween, a fun new trend is taking the world by storm – Dog-O’-Lanterns! Rather than carving spooky faces or haunted houses on their pumpkins, dog lovers are paying homage to the cuddly cuties in their lives.
Whether it’s pawprints, bones and simple silhouettes, or elaborately detailed portraits, we think carved canine gourds are delightful! How about you?
The most impressive “pup-kin” to hit the internet this fall comes from Andy Manoloff of Elkhart, Indiana. The talented dog dad used an Exacto knife to carve a strikingly realistic likeness of his beloved Pomeranian, Sophie.

“She’s been through everything with me and I just thought it’d be fun to see her on one of my pumpkins,” Manoloff told CountryLiving.com.
Check out this short time-lapse video of Sophie’s transformation in pumpkin!
But don’t be intimidated by Manoloff’s skill! Anyone can design a fabulous Halloween Dog-O’-Lantern of their own.
Try printing up a photo of your pup and using it as a template for your sketch or visit PedigreeFoundation.org for easy-to-use stencils of several dog breeds including Golden Retrievers, Beagles, Huskies, and more.
