Hope springs eternal in the fight against the Big C! At the University of Pennsylvania Vet Working Dog Center, Mcbain, an English Springer Spaniel is shown successfully detecting ovarian cancer from blood samples on the metal wheel. The dog’s keen sense of smell can be used in the fight against cancer and we can learn from this to find a breakthrough and beat cancer.

Dogs are truly our best friends, and here is a fine example of humans and dogs working together to fight a common ailment affecting both. Arlene Weintraub, author of Heal, a book on the field of Comparative Oncology also discusses the loss of her sister Beth, to gastric cancer. It was a very personal journey for the author who belongs to a family who loves dogs and presents in her book how this collaboration can bring about change.

As we search for all possible ways to fight cancer, we hope that dogs can help us find the solution in beating this dreaded disease that has taken so many lives too soon. Research is ongoing and the breakthrough can be coming soon! Share this good news with everyone, it deserves to be watched and heard!
