An Arizona shelter dog named Monte is getting his big break as the lead role in the remake of the “Lady and the Tramp.” This live action remake is based on the beloved story of a street smart terrier falling in love with a pedigree princess, and all of their adventures in between.

Monte was first rescued by the Mesilla Valley animal shelter, and then adopted by the HALO Animal Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona. Everyone at the rescue immediately fell in love with Monte, and knew he would make an amazing companion to a lucky family. They couldn’t have even imagined what would lie in store for him.

Hollywood scouts were on a mission to find a scruffy pup that would be perfect for main role of Tramp. When they came across Monte’s photo, they knew they had to meet him.

When the scouts arrived at the rescue, the staff had no idea just what the agents were looking for. They mentioned that they were in search of a specific appearance, but did not give any other details as to who they were there to see.

The LA scouts met Monte soon after their arrival, and immediately fell in love with the scruffy ball of fur. His sweet nature and love of affection got him put on the map by the casting agents, and they soon realized that he would be the perfect match for the film!

Monte’s demeanor is calm and laid back, and eager to please! He has proven to be the perfect gentlemen on the set of the up and coming film. Monte’s transformation from shelter pup to well behaved film star proves that shelter dogs are capable of anything!

The Arizona rescue is so proud of Monte and how far he has come. They hope that this can show the world just how wonderful shelter dogs are, and how much they can grow in the presence of love!

“It’s special when these things happen. It helps show the world that shelter animals are wonderful and people can find their next best friend there.”

Monte’s new gig is the perfect example of how shelter dogs are far from broken. They are just as easily trained, and just as easy to love! When you take a chance on a shelter dog, you’ll be amazed at the way they can enrich your life. You never know, you just may get a movie star!
