Everyone has a story, but Cherry Garcia’s is particularly special. Cherry was rescued from the famous illegal dog fighting ring on Michael Vick’s property in 2007. It’s been a difficult road, but after three years of rehabilitation she was adopted into a forever home in 2010. Cherry has become a gentle, loving pup and enjoys swimming, hanging out with her family and kittens.

Yes, you read that right. Cherry loves kittens! She likes older cats as well and has two of her own. Her owners say that every time Cherry is around cats and kittens, it’s as if all of the stress of her life just goes away. She takes her job as a kitty nanny very seriously and has even been given some great opportunities to show off her skills. When website Bark Post and Friends of Berlin Animal Control heard about Cherry’s love, they gave her a few kittens to watch over and play with. The results are just adorable!

Cherry goes to show that when given a second chance, dogs can recover from traumatic life experiences. Althoughshe didn’t get the best start in life, she has become a loving companion to both humans and animals alike. Cherry is a true success story and should be an inspiration to anyone working with rescue dogs. Not only has she become a great ambassador for rehabilitating Pit Bulls with other animals, she gives back to children in need. With the right care and some time and patience, dogs like Cherry can learn to live happy, fulfilling lives for years to come.
