Let’s face it, no matter how crafty you are, you probably can’t paint like a pro. Art is one of the most classic ways to capture something; throughout history, we have captured great people and moments through art.

But there is actually another way art can be used, as a memorial. Think about it, if you’ve ever toured a capital building or hall of fame you’ve seen paintings of famous folks that have been painted so that everyone who views the painting would know what an important and wonderful person they were. But, what if we applied that same idea to our beloved pets?

Anyone who has ever lost a pet knows how difficult it can be. After the passing of my dog, I realized getting over the loss was going to be difficult. At the time, I didn’t have much money for cremation. On top of that, a cremation vase is just a vase. It’s not a real reminder of who my dog was.

But after touring the Capital Building in Washington, D.C. recently, I realized exactly what I wanted. As I took in paintings of Washington and other historical figures, it made me realize that a painting is the most vibrant and accurate way I can remember my little pup.

After searching everywhere, I stumbled across a site doing just that. The company is called Davinci Pet. On top of it being a great option for those trying to memorialize a pet, it’s a pretty cool idea. The company is family run, and it’s one incredibly talented family at that.

Each painting is hand-painted, and this isn’t the poor quality you may be thinking of with fuzzy pixels. This is the real deal! The process is super simple. You select a background you want for your dog, and send a picture. Their skilled painters, carefully paint every detail to perfection and then send the painting to you.

The idea is also great if you just want to give your current family pet it’s own special little place on the wall. While dog paintings are Davinci Pet’s specialty, they can also do other animals–like cats.

What’s really special is that after reaching out to Davinci Pet they wanted to do something extra special for all iHeartDogs.com readers. The owner gave us a special coupon code– IHeartPets –that will get anyone $100 dollars off the price of a painting. That’s incredibly cool! Since the paintings are hand done the process can take some time, but it’s totally worth the wait.

To get started go to davincipet.com click on the get started button and when asked enter: IHeartPets to get $100 off your painting.
