Two Years After His Dog Was Taken, Man Gets A Phone Call That Changes His Life!

Having your pet stolen is any animal owner’s worst fear realized. From the moment you bring your animal companion home, it’s love. You can’t imagine a life without them, whether it’s been 3 days or 3 years. For Jason, he loved his Shih Tzu, Polo, so much from the first moment they met. The two did everything together, and Jason couldn’t have been any more proud or admiring of his doggy best friend.

But then, one day, everything changed. Someone stole Polo from Jason. Heartbroken and stricken with grief, Jason searched everywhere for his dog–but there was no evidence on his whereabouts. Days turned into months and eventually years, and Jason was forced to move on. But he would never forget about the dog he loved.

Fast-forward two years to just last week, and the rescue workers at the Washington Humane Society of D.C. received a phone call about a Shih Tzu that was found abandoned in a cage by a dumpster. When they arrived on the scene, they found the small dog shaking, hair matted and toenails overgrown, curling under his feet. This little dog was lucky to be alive and in very poor shape.

Jason had since moved from Miami to New York City, and the day before Thanksgiving, he received a shocking phone call that he never thought he would get: the almost unrecognizable dog from the cage was none other than Polo, which veterinary staff discovered when scanning the little dog’s microchip. Without hesitation, Jason quickly made the trip from NYC to Washington, D.C. to take back the dog he never thought he’d see again.

“This is just unbelievable,” said Jason. “It’s something you see on CNN!”

And of course we have photos of the happy reunion, it’s just so great!
