DIY Peanut Butter Apple Treats For Halloween

| October 18, 2016

Around this time of year, everyone wants a special treat–including your dog! But since we all know that chocolate and candy are dangerous for canine consumption, we want to share this DIY Peanut Butter Apple Treat recipe so that Fido can (safely) join in with the festivities.

This recipe comes from the Gone to the Snow Dogs blog. We just love how these Halloween treats turned out!

Here are a few things to keep in mind: make sure that the apple pieces you use don’t include any bits of core or seeds, which contain cyanide. Also, if you choose to use sprinkles like in the video, make sure that they are not chocolate, and only use a tiny bit to avoid feeding your pup too much sugar. If this concerns you, we would suggest using crushed salt-free peanuts to roll the coated apples in, instead!

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter (xylitol free)

1/4 Cup Peanut butter Chips

12 Pretzel Sticks (low sodium or no salt)

3 Apples

Watch this easy how-to video:

Don’t those look great?! We bet your pooch would love to gobble up these tasty treats, and share them with all of his friends! Heck–we might try a bite or two, as well!
