My pup is doing very well with potty training. She goes to the door reliably when we are home. She wakes us up at night when she needs to go out, and can make it 4-5 hours at night before she cries. However, when we go out…she pees on her bed in the crate. The crate is a grow-with-me type meaning it has a partition. We have it set up with just enough room for her bed, so when she goes, she’s laying in the pee too. If we go out for more than an hour or two, she pees in the crate (even if she has been out and had her water cut back). My other Weim never had this problem, so I don’t know what to do to break her of it. Any behavior training suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you gone for more than 4-5 hours? If so, that’s your issue. You’ll need to gradually increase crate time until it’s not an issue. You’ve heard the old saying “Don’t )$%$ where you lay”? Weims most definitely live by this motto. If the dog is going in the crate, it’s because he’s been there too long most likely.
