Meet Caitlyn, an adorable Chocolate Staff mix puppy that was mistreated in a way that you could never think imaginable. Sometimes in life people can be mean to animals for reasons that we as animal lovers could never understand, but even this is beyond extreme and utterly cruel in the eyes of anyone. In North Charleston, South Carolina, this poor dog was found with black electrical tape wound so tightly around her muzzle that it caused her face to snout and mouth to practically double in size once removed. And worse, she is predicted to have spent up to 48 hours in this condition before being surrendered to the shelter.
“This is the most malicious case of animal abuse I have seen in my entire career,” Charleston Animal Society Director of Anti-Cruelty Aldwin Roman wrote on its Facebook page. Sadly, the tape was put on so tightly that it caught Caitlyn’s tongue in between and caused extensive nerve damage. Medical personnel are keeping a close eye on Caitlyn because painful and extensive surgery may be needed in order to save her life.
With lots of love and special care hopefully poor Caitlyn can make a speedy recovery, and this human scum that abused this defenseless animal can be found and put behind bars for this heinous crime.
To help Caitlyn and others like her, the CAS is asking for contributions to Toby’s Fund for medical care at www.CharlestonAnimalSociety.org.
