This breed is relatively “new” in terms of recognition with the main associations in the US (UKC recognized them in 1998, the AKC has them in Foundation Stock Service® currently). However, the breed is believed to be the descendants of dogs brought by the Spanish to the “new world,” and mixed with Mexican dogs. (www.ukcdogs.com)
