The Mucuchies, or Venezuelan Sheepdog, is a large livestock guardian dog descended from animals brought over from Spain in the 16th century. It is a rare breed of dog, once prevalent in Venezuela but now facing extinction. Because of their use as guardians, they are loyal and affectionate toward their families but wary of strangers.
