South Korea is the only country in the world that currently (and actively) farms dogs for meat. It’s a devastating thing to really think about as an animal lover, but luckily, despite the subject matter, the video you’re about to watch isn’t a sad one.

Earlier this month, dedicated members of Humane Society International worked tirelessly to rescue 57 dogs from a dog meat farm in South Korea. 57! The farmer who was responsible for the animals has agreed to cease dog farming and transition to agricultural business instead, which means fewer dogs will be affected by this horrific industry.

The dozens of pups who were taken to safety are currently in San Francisco, CA, where they will be distributed to various Emergency Placement centers with the Humane Society of the United States. The hope is that after any necessary medical attention and socialization, the rescued cuties will be ready for adoption, and will soon each find forever homes.

Such an amazing story! Seeing these pups flop and play together and get to know human kindness for the first time is really an inspiring sight. We wish nothing but the best for them – it’s all any dog deserves.
