DISCUSSION: Police Won’t Press Charges, So Rescue Group Seeks Justice For Dog With Out Of Control Mange

| Published on October 20, 2015

Justice 4 Mutts, a rescue group based in Texas, is seeking justice for a dog with out of control mange found chained in a backyard.

The dog named Aries, was found by a passerby who then quickly called Breanne Justice–the founder of Justice 4 Mutts. Aries’s life was hanging by a thread. He was rushed to the emergency vet where they discovered that not only does he have out of control mange, he was positive for heartworms, and he had an open wound in his abdomen that needed surgery.

The vet at the hospital, Dr. Gary Gosney, said “The dog as presented to me was emaciated, generalized edema, generalized pyoderma, generalized demodectic mange, a large pressure sore on the ventral chest which was about in a three-inch circle and necrotic, dehydrated, depressed, lethargic, febrile and positive for heart worm disease which complicates all treatment.”

Watch the video below and see what Aries looked like when he was under the care of Justice 4 Mutts.

Aries is now in our care. Currently rushing him back to Temple now! Taking him to the emergency clinic. He can not wait another night for major vet care! I will post vet info when I get there. We will need donations to be called in…it’s a holiday and a emergency clinic which means very expensive!!

Unfortunately, Aries’s condition was not stable. They tried so hard to save him, but he was just too weak. The only humane thing to do was to euthanize him.

And now animal advocates everywhere are outraged when they heard the news that police won’t press charges against Aries’s owners, saying that they have proof that the owners tried to get help for the dog. According to the news report by KRGV.com, the police chief said that the family who owned Aries was very poor and they were treating the dog themselves. And just because they don’t have the means to get help, doesn’t mean they are guilty of cruelty.

The rescue group continues to seek justice for Aries. Breanne Justice won’t stop until justice is served.

What do you think? Should the police press charges against Aries’s owners? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
