Two stray dogs sat alone on the streets of Muscoy, California. The larger dog, a beautiful German Shepherd, was resting on the ground in pain. She had recently been struck by a car, and a small, fluffy dog refused to leave her side. Many humans drove past, not wanting to stop and help the poor pup. However, the small dog refused to give up, and he continued to wait by his friend’s side until help arrived.
Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue finally received a call about the two dogs on the side of the road. They rushed to go pick up the dogs in need. The two dogs received the names Marley and Murphy.
The organization soon learned that not only was Marley in rough shape, but she was also pregnant! It was clear that Murphy knew this, and he wanted to make sure his friend stayed safe.
Loyal Friends
With Dream Fetchers, Marley and Murphy stayed side by side as much as possible. Poor Marley needed surgery on both her legs due to the accident. At first, the staff feared that she might not make it. However, they soon learned that Marley was even stronger than she seemed.
Once Marley was out of surgery and feeling better, they let Murphy spend some time with her. He provided her plenty of comfort as she healed. She had a slow recovery, but she was lucky to have such a caring friend to help her through it.
During her long recovery, Marley gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies. Each puppy was very healthy. So, not only was Marley’s life saved that day, but Dream Fetchers also saved the lives of 10 adorable pups too!
Throughout everything Marley went through, Murphy was by her side, making sure she was okay. He was with her through every step of the way. Everyone could learn a thing or two from his dedication!
Marley’s Recovery
Marley slowly recovered from surgery and from giving birth. As time went on, Murphy seemed to realize that she was doing just fine on her own. So, Murphy soon went off to find a forever home of his own where he could run and play as much as he wanted. He knew that Marley was happy and healthy, so he knew he had done a good job.
Dream Fetchers then brought Marley to I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue, where they continued to look after her and her puppies. They were very patient with Marley’s healing process, and they even found loving homes for all the puppies!
Now, Marley has found her forever home as well. Her new family said that she’s a very sweet girl, and she plays as if she’s never even broken a bone. She has come so far from where Dream Fetchers first found her.
“She was special and we all knew it,” said Faith Easdale with Dream Fetchers. “Today, her babies are all grown up and Marley is loved and cherished.”
If it hadn’t been for Murphy’s loyalty, who knows where Marley would be today? Thanks to her brave and caring guardian, she got the help she needed. Dogs truly are the most loving and devoted creatures, and we should all strive to be more like Murphy!
