3 Things Affect Dog Adoptions – You Won’t Believe How Easy It Is To Do #3

| December 2, 2016

If you’ve ever been to an animal shelter, you’ve seen what a sad place it can be. It’s no fault of the shelter, but dogs can be sullen and despondent. Spending most of their time in a kennel or cage, who could blame them. Sadly, anyone looking to adopt a shelter dog can unknowingly be turned off by this apparent sad state. It’s not right, but subconsciously, things like this affect all of our decisions. But did you know that there’s something that can be done to make dogs more adoptable.

3 factors that make dogs more adoptable

Breed – Fortunately not the most important factor, but breed plays a major factor when people decide whether or not to adopt a dog. Sadly, certain breeds or mixes have unfairly earned reputations as poor family dogs, while others are perceived as more friendly.

Appearance – How a dog looks also makes a difference. Dogs with thinning fur, an apparent injury or even different colored eyes can be overlooked by a potential forever home.

Playfulness – Possibly one of the greatest factors when deciding to adopt, playful pups are up to 70% more adoptable. The appearance of a playful, energetic doggy has a way of warming everyone’s heart.

While there’s not much that can be done with breed and appearance, there is something that we can all do to help with the third factor.

Toys can improve a dog’s chance of finding a forever home. Sadly, due to the high price of long-lasting, quality toys, shelters can’t afford to provide every dog with something to keep them entertained. We’ve found an answer.
