When rescuers from the Animal Lighthouse Rescue (ALR) in New York arrived to save an abandoned dog, they found a heartbreaking sight.
The young pup, named Lily, had been deliberately dumped in the woods. She had been left with her crate and an old T-shirt that was spread on the ground beside it. A woman had discovered the pup and continued to feed her until the ALR came to pick her up.
When Lily’s rescuers arrived, they found her laying patiently on a rumpled blue shirt. She’d been in the same spot for weeks, waiting for the owner who never returned.
Luckily, this sweetheart is now in safe hands. At two years old, she is a small dog who weighs 13 pounds. She is healthy, has been spayed and vaccinated, and is ready for her forever home!
The ALR posted on Facebook:
Lily is so amazingly sweet. She is just such a little snuggler. She is great with other dogs, and loves all people. She likes kids, but they tend to scare her. Lily is slightly timid, but we think it is because of her history. We think once she is in a stable and loving home, her timidness will fade away into the pure happy lovebug that she is. If you want a dog who will be your best friend for the rest of her life, Lily is your girl! So loyal!
If you’re interested in taking Lily home, visit her profile on the ALR website. There, you can fill out an application and email Julie@ALRcares.com.
We hope that Lily finds a family who’s as loyal to her as she is to them!
