Abandoned Puppies Gets Fostered By A Capybara

| Published on August 24, 2015

We just love how animals get along together and form an inseparable bond–especially when a female adopts baby animals of another species. We’ve seen cats adopting puppies, but have you seen a rodent adopt a litter of puppies?

Everyone, meet Cheesecake–a Capybara who is fostering a litter of puppies who were abandoned by their mother. For those who don’t know, the Capybara is the world’s largest rodent. They weigh an average of 77 to 146 pounds. Some people even have them for pets because they are actually very sweet and they also love to cuddle.

Cheesecake the Capybara lives at the Rocky Ridge Rescue, where her owner, Janice, rescues a lot of mother dogs, especially the pregnant ones. Cheesecake has taken care of a total of four litters of pups already. She sleeps with them, eats with them, and plays with them! Watch the video below for the full story!

Awwww…what an adorable, unlikely family! Sweet Cheesecake just loves her puppies!

You can see more of Cheesecake and her puppies, and all the other animals they live with, at Rocky Ridge Rescue’s Facebook page!
