Photographer Captures Still Photos Of Dogs “Shaking It Off” And It’s Pure Gold

| October 6, 2015

Carli Davidson is a professional photographer located in Portland, Oregon. She loves to photograph animals in general (even humans!) but appreciates true nature of pets.

“I really appreciate that pets will always be honest in front of the camera, and they never put their own photos down,” she told iHeartDogs.com.

Since pets keep her positive, she tries to work with them whenever she can. Over the last twenty years, she has worked with them as a caregiver, trainer, and classroom educator. Since she loves photography, it just made sense to merge the two, she adds.

As for the inspiration behind her SHAKE project? She says it was a bit of a fluke!

“I had some new high speed lights and I thought it would be a fun way to test their speed and possibly get some funny photos,” she explains. “I surprised myself with the first upload of shots back in early 2011. They were hilarious, and I wanted to share them with everyone.”

Although it sounds like waiting for a kettle to boil, she said the average time it took for a dog to “shake” was just 30 seconds.

“Sometimes one would just kind of sit there looking at me and everyone in the room would kind of hold their breath until they shook or just got up and walked away from the set,” Davidson adds.

You can purchase prints from both SHAKE and SHAKE puppies from her website. You can also follow her latest projects on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Have cats too? Her SHAKE cats book is due out October 27th!

For now, enjoy a sample of her amazing SHAKE dogs. (Photos reprinted with express permission from Carlie Davidson.)
