When Alex Dennison and Ashley Lewis brought home their German Shepherd puppy, Nasra, they made what seemed like a silly decision – to document how fast she grew by taking a pictures about one month apart from the time they got her (8 weeks old) to 8 months.
They then decided to share the images on Reddit. They had no idea that their images would become an internet sensation.
“We always knew she’d grow quick and wanted to do something to document the progress.” Lewis told iHeartDogs.com “We thought it would be fun to go all out and make every photo identical (standing in the same spot, wearing the same clothes, etc.,) so that she’d really stand out as the only thing changing.”
“I’m not quite sure what has made our photo so popular, I think it might have been the way we made every photo look exactly the same,” Lewis said. “We never in a million years expected it to be so popular! Especially didn’t expect something like this to happen to us,” she laughed.
When asked for tips if other soon-to-be puppy parents want to document their own bundle of joy growing, Lewis’s number one tip was to try and recreate every photo as best as you can.
“I’ve read hundreds of comments on Facebook of people thinking I wore the same clothes for 6 months, or that it must be my uniform. But in reality I purposefully changed into the same clothes to take the photo,” she explained.
And remembering to take the photo? They did it before or after her puppy class she had each week, which helped serve as a reminder to take the photo.
Lewis gave us one more photo of Narsa at 9 months old (just three weeks ago):
