Stories like this one restore our faith in humanity. Nicole Elliot, from Columbus, Georgia, adopted Chester, a terminally ill dog, and created a bucket list for him so he could spend his final days having fun and being loved, rather than wasting away in a shelter.
Chester was originally pulled from a high-kill shelter by Animal Ark Rescue back in April. Elliot is a foster parent for them and had seen a post asking for a hospice-type home for Chester’s remaining days.
It was a tough decision, she said, especially since her grandmother had just passed away. But Elliot decided she, and her daughter Paisley, could make him happy for the time he had left.
“I slept on it, and woke up knowing it was the right thing to do,” she told WTVM. “I knew that it would be my responsibility to make his final days the best I could, to mine and his ability.”
Elliot has created a Facebook page of Chester’s adventures, so fans the world over can follow his journey and hopefully be inspired to do the same for another dog in the same situation as Chester.

11,000 people are following Chester’s completion of his bucket list, which as so far included car rides, spa days, shopping sprees, “doggy sundaes,”eating a famous Nathan’s hot dog, and of course, plenty of love.
