Wanting to get away this winter and take the four-legged family member(s) with you? These ten places are dog friendly and offer a range of locations to suit any family’s desire for the perfect Winter Wonderland getaway.

#1 – Snow Mountain Ranch

Located just outside Winter Park, Colorado, Snow Mountain Ranch is the perfect snow destination. The staff can recommend dog-friendly hikes in the National Forest areas surrounding the properties, and the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center has its own dog-friendly trails.  While your dog rests after his hike or cross-country ski excursion, human visitors can try a dog sled adventure, sleigh ride, ice skating, indoor archery, tubing, and more.

#2 – Barkwells

As the name implies, Barkwells is very dog-friendly! Located in the Western North Carolina Mountains, they offer 8 cabins, each luxuriously furnished complete with hot tub, fireplace, satellite TV and Internet. Every cabin has a dog door leading to its own fenced yard and the entire 7-acre property is fenced so your dogs can run and swim in the pond – yes, even in winter. Asheville has great hiking, a flourishing collection of local, farm to table restaurants, nearby ski slopes and the Biltmore Estate.

#3 – Naples, Florida

Is your idea of a Winter Wonderland palm trees and 70-degree weather? Then Naples, Florida, which is designed for dogs, is your place! It is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the country and has more than 10 pet-friendly hotels, tons of al fresco dining options, as well as pet-friendly shops and cafes.

#4 – Soho and the Roxy Hotel Tribeca Grand Hotels

There is nothing like Christmas in NYC and with these two sister hotels, you can bring your pup along to enjoy it all. At each of these luxury hotels, your dog will be given a welcome package featuring organic treats, bedding, food and water bowls, and doggy bags. The Soho Grand has a dog park open to visitors of both hotels.

#5 – U.S. Farm Stay Association

Always wanted that old-fashioned family Christmas on a farm? The U.S. Farm Stay Association has many dog-friendly members waiting to welcome your entire family onto their farm. Whether you are looking for snow or sun, you can find a farm to stay at that suits your needs.

#6 – St. Regis Aspen Resort

Guests of the dog-friendly St. Regis Aspen Resort can cross country ski with their dog and a professional dog trainer who will teach you to skijor. Traveling without a pooch? They’ve partnered with The Aspen Animal Shelter to provide adoptable dogs on loan for skijoring. And, a portion of the proceeds goes towards the operating costs of the shelter.

#7 – Carlton Hotel St. Moritz

There is nothing like the Swiss Alps for Christmas! Located in the birthplace of winter tourism in the sunny Engadin Valley, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz allows dogs in all 60 lake-view rooms as well as the lobby, bar, and restaurant on the ground floor. Dogs can even join in on the 2014/15 celebration of 150 years of winter tourism in St. Mortiz by joining their owners on the pet-friendly Glacier Express, a first-class train journey.

#8 – Heathman Hotel

The Heathman Hotel, located in the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon, has numerous pet-friendly amenities. According to their site:

We have a whole range of pet amenities to welcome your companion, as well as pet room service and even a pet spiritual menu. Check out our amenities here. There is no pet fee, we included this in the guest amenities fee.

Room service for my dog? Book it! They also provide guests with a walking guide of the city for both two and four-legged guests. Their Christmas High Tea is a must if you visit.

#9 – Viceroy Palm Springs

Another getaway for those who want to avoid snowshoes, Palm Springs is known for being pet friendly. The Viceroy Hotel has special amenities for dog owners, including pet sitting and walking services! They also give each dog their own food bowl upon arrival and their very own doggy menu that includes items like PB&J bites and skirt steak with eggs toast.

#10 – Tenaya Lodge

Yosemite National Park is just stunning in the winter. With frozen waterfalls and glistening pine trees, you can’t beat it. The Tenaya Lodge has a Deluxe Pampered Pet Package complete with a bed and dish for your stay. They also provide pet sitting when you want to visit somewhere your dog isn’t allowed. They even have gourmet dog biscuits fresh-baked in house.
