It’s that time of year when we feel the need to get rid of clutter and throw away things we didn’t even remember we owned. But, we did buy all those things at some point, so you are kinda throwing your money away. Before you do, take a look at ways you can upcycle common “throw away” items into new, useful dog things. Some you could probably even sell on Etsy or donate to a local shelter.
#1 – Old Suitcases

There probably isn’t a woman alive who doesn’t have old, outdated purses hidden in the back of her closet. With a little bit of TLC and maybe some new bling, fabric (another use for your scraps!) and ribbon, you can upcycle that purse into a dog carrying bag. Or, add compartments and turn into a holder for your dog’s grooming or training supplies.
#9 – Plastic Storage Containers
Most of us have TONS of these lying around – now useless to store food because they have no lid! However, you can use these to keep track of your dog’s bows and hair ribbons, medications, brushes, collars, etc. Use them to organize your dog space, rather than throwing them away. You can even paint them colors if you wish.
#10 – Unmatched Socks
These make great toys! Tie them together, put squeakers in them, knot them into a ball, your dog will love it all! You can also use them as a medical cone for smaller dogs – just stuff with other socks or towels and tie together. Also great for applying heat or ice when necessary (just make sure they are sanitized first!).
#11 – Unused Furniture
Have an old desk that just sits or maybe it’s wobbly and no one will use? These can be made in to dog beds! Just search the internet to get some ideas, or come up with your own.
