My little Yorkie Gracie refuses to take her Heartworm chewable. I have tried everything. She use to eat it with peanutbutter, now that doesn’t work. I only want to give her and her brother Max chewable Heartguard.Any ideas??

My yorky Joey would not take a pill of any kind no matter what I did! Then I thought of mozzarella cheese which he loves. He won’t eat any processed cheese, but loves ‘real’ cheese. So what I did was crush his pill in some melted cheese, rolled into a little ball, let it cool and he gobbled it down! I bet your baby will also take her pill this way. He was on pain killers and muscle relaxers for about 10 days winter before last when he slipped off the step into a snow bank and pulled his muscles. I had to find some way of getting his meds in him and thankfully this is what worked and still does when needed! I made all his pills up this way at once, put them in the fridge and then gave them to him at the scheduled times.
Good luck! 🙂 -

I’ve had this problem with all pill meds. I finally found a dual pill cutter/crusher at my local Safeway pharmacy. I crush the tablets and sprinkle them on a combination of wet and dry food. No more problems.

The vet now has a shot that lasts for 6 months. That’s what we do because Simba would not take the pill.
