In my first life, long ago, I lived with a very mean man. I don’t know why he was so mean to me. He used to hit me with sticks and kick me. Sometimes I went hungry for days.
Then one day he tied me up behind his truck and started driving. I couldn’t run fast enough to keep up, he was going so fast. My legs went out from underneath of me and he was dragging me behind his truck. I felt like my neck was going to break. I could feel the sharp rocks on the road tearing chunks off my body. I thought he was never going to stop, but eventually he did. I could not stand up or walk, so he threw me in the back of his truck. He drove for a short while and then stopped beside a river. He took me out and threw me in the river. I don’t know why. Maybe because I was to dirty and bloody, or maybe he was just going to leave me there. I was kind of hoping he would, but he didn’t. He drug me out of the river and threw back into the back of his truck and took me back home.

When we got back home, he took me out of the truck and tied me up. All I could do was lay there. I thought I was going to die. I wanted to die.

Then I heard the softest voice, like an angel. She leaned over me and started petting me. She said “you’re coming with me and nobody will ever hurt you again”. She picked me up carefully in her arms and laid me on a soft bed in the back of her jeep.

The next thing I remember, I was at the doctor. Everyone looked very worried, especially my angel lady.

The next few months I spent at the angel ladies home. She had lots of other dogs there. I started feeling much better. She was so nice.

Then when I was all better, lots of people were coming to see me. I didn’t know why. I didn’t want to leave.

Then these two really nice elderly people came to see me. There was something about them. I felt safe with them and I could tell that my angel lady really liked and trusted them a lot.

Well, that was four years ago now and I am still with the nice elderly people. They even adopted a friend of mine I made at the . My angel lady even comes to see me some times. I am so happy and I love my new family. Now I hope I live a good long time!

My lawyer advised me to take out the previous owners name, otherwise I would have. He pleaded guilty, got 90 day conditional sentence (30 days of which was house arrest), was ordered to pay $2,100.00 restitution to Angels Animal Rescue, and was banned from owning animals for 5 years.
The “angel lady” in the story is Judanna Dawn of . She’s an absolutely incredible person. I don’t think I could emotionally handle what she goes through on an almost daily basis. She is the most compassionate and kind person I have ever met. She is the one with the long black hair in the pictures.
There is a video I have posted on my incredibly underdeveloped blog which I am just starting and learning how to do, but it really is a great video. You can find it , or visit Angels website .
Thank-you all for taking the time to post comments. It was a difficult thing to do.

The best thing about this whole story is the happy ending! Thank you so much to the angel that rescued this special dog that endured so much. Don’t you ever wonder what an animal that is treated like this thinks of human beings? Dogs are the most loving, forgiving creatures on earth. After what April Rain went through I hope she never has to go through any further pain again…only love for the rest of her life.

April Rain made a miraculous recovery, and her guardian angels are just that, ANGELS ON EARTH. Thank G-d she lived through all of the abuse she was forced to endure, only to come out of her terrible surroundings sweet and lovable as can be. G-d bless you, April Rain, and G-d bless the people who rescued, took care of, and adopted you. A beautiful ending to what started out as a nightmare.
