My 2 Danes and my Rottweiler eat Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Salmon and Rice. They love it, and their coats are soft and shiny. I will add I’ve been a vet tech for almost 25 years, and I stand by Purina. It is well balanced, researched, and not a “Fad diet” or boutique food (usually not researched by independent labs).

My vet told me to keep them lean in the young ages to protect the joints. I fed a mix of Diamond Naturals and a Raw diet. My last Dane crossed the bridge at 15 years old.

Our new pup is on Fromm large breed adult beef. Poops are good and she loves it! She came to us from breeder on Wholesome beef adult but poops were soft serve. We tried 4Health but poop didn’t get any better. Expensive dog likes expensive food I guess!! My previous Dane did well on NutroMax Large breed food.

We’ve spent thousands on meds for skin allergies on one of our Danes. The only food we’ve found that gives her a shiny coat, prevents itching and saves us a trip to the vet is Taste of the Wild Pet Food High Prairie. Both of our dogs love the food and it makes their coat nice and shiny.

Homemade always.
This is one batch:
10 lbs chicken leg meat boneless skinless
1 lb sweet potato diced no need to peel
1 lb carrots shredded
16 oz bag spinach or any good leafy greens
2 cups grains – I use whole oats, quinoa or couscous you can use rice too. Some dogs can’t stomach oats sometimes.
1 cup of waterPut in grains (except couscous), sweet potatoes/yams and chicken in a crockpot overnight on low for 8-10 hours or for faster results on high for 4-6 hours. Once done then add the carrots and greens last. This is when you would also add the couscous. Let stand 15 minutes before portioning.
Portion out and feed 3% of dogs body weight daily.

We use Gentle Giants Brand (specifically formulated for Danes) and have had only positive results. Mix in a little olive oil, some boiled chicken breast and a scoop of Nu-Pro Gold.

Our previous Danes had super delicate stomachs. A lot of the foods gave them horrible Hershey Squirts. We switched to Diamond Naturals and have had no issues.
