HELP!!! I have a 4 year old rescue that REFUSES to let me trim his nails. I have tried over the counter meds and even a prescript from my vet to calm him down so that I can trim them. Nothing worked! I have a feeling that his previous owner must have hurt him while trimming and now won’t let me get near his nails. Is there any other option than having the vet give him a shot to knock him out to cut the nails???

Hello , I recently had the same problem , when I took her vets and explained that when I tried she was squealing they told me it’s her way of getting out of it , I found now once she has had a bath I sit over her and hold her in a gentle headlock (not one that can harm her ) then I hold her paw up and wait for her to calm and I the can clip her nails , she is almost 3 , to clip her back claws my husband has to hold her across his arms , hope this helps xx
