Why does my Basset have hair loss on tip of her ear and what can I put on it?

My Bella is 9 years old. All of the sudden, I noticed today about an inch and a half of hair from tip of her ear is gone. I’m using the same meal bowl and food and she does not usually get too much food on her ears. Any ideas about cause and what can I put on it. She is not scratching it.
