My Pitt Bull has started eating grass every few days, then she throws it up within a half hour. Why is she eating grass? She eats her regular food. Her diet has not changed. She has not lost any weight.

I have a Yorkie & a Chihouhou/terrier & both of them also eats grass. I was told by the vet that if they have an upset stomach, they will eat grass cause it makes them vomit & than their stomach feels better. It is a completely normal & common behaviour.

Susan your fur babies are just adorable! I see you have a smiler in the family. Connie, she is right. when a dog has an upset stomach for whatever reason they will eat grass. It must be something in the grass that interacts with the acids and things in their stomach to make them throw up. It does sometimes take time for it to work and therefore, you may see your baby eating grass every so many days, etc. If you ever see your fur baby eating grass, call them inside and give them some pure pumpkin from a can. It’s the stuff you use to make a pumpkin pie from scratch or any other home made pumpkin items. Anyway, just try and get them to eat at least a whole teaspoon or two. If they really like it, it won’t hurt them if they eat more than that. I promise you that they will feel better almost instantly. I ALWAYS have cans of pumpkin on hand basically for that reason. We have six dogs, 2-Chihuahuas, 2-Chorkies(half chihuahua and half yorkie), and these two have the same parents but are from different litters. So they are really brother and sister. one that we have had for a little over a year after she was found and with no luck to find the owners. Although, we think she may have been dumped in the neighborhood she was found. there was so much sadness in her eyes, they didn’t deserve her back! Sorry, i tend to get off track. We think she’s a Cocker Spaniel or even maybe a poodle or a mix of those. the other is also one we found on the streets. We weren’t going to keep him but have had no luck in finding anyone willing to take him that would be a great to him and give him all the love and care all animals deserve. Plus he and our daughter have become attached to each other since the night we found him. We have no idea what kind of dog he is. Moving along, you can also try giving plain, bland white rice. That, I have found, seems to take a while to take effect like the grass. If you have any fur babies and they want some of that pumpkin too, it is completely safe and alright to give them some. It will only help the stomachs in digesting. Sorry my reply was so long. Good luck and I hope your baby gets to feeling better soon

it could be that he is just curious about the grass. dogs are curious and likes to sniff and “taste” new things.
Throwing it up is a good sign that he doesn’t ingest those grass.
