I’m sure some of you are tired of hearing me talk about how VeRUS dog food. Sorry, I have more to say.

I started feeding VeRUS to my 2 dogs a little while back – several months, anyway. One of my dogs is a Golden Retriever who is creeping up on 11 years old. When she was young, she was a long, lean, elegant-looking dog with lots of energy. She could dig like a backhoe and climb like a monkey. Yes, climb. As in, we installed an 8-foot chain link gate in an effort to keep her in the backyard. We watched as she climbed up & over that gate with almost no effort. (We were a little slow, but we finally bought an invisible fence AND moved her inside.) As Emma got older, she also got rounder and slower. Part of this was because she moved inside and no longer had to work so hard to get out of the backyard. Then we tried putting her on a ‘diet’ dog food. That didn’t work out so well. She didn’t mind it, but we really didn’t notice that much of a difference. I switched making her food and feeding her only 1 time per day. She trimmed down nicely but ended up with other issues – she was itchy, and her coat wasn’t as shiny/pretty as it used to be. AND she still wasn’t very energetic. I chalked the coat & energy issues up to the fact that she was getting older. When I decided that my dogs weren’t getting all the nutrients they might need from what I was making, I started looking for a really good dry dog food.

I did a lot of research. A LOT. I saw the VeRUS name on a list of dog food companies who had never had a recall. There were 15 names on that particular list. I looked at the websites of almost all of these companies. Almost all had fantastic websites full of information. Some had contact pages where others just had a way to sign up for their newsletter. Of the contact forms, I filled out, most of the companies sent me an email in return with most sending me a coupon to try their food.

VeRUS was THE ONLY company who sent a response from a person who asked questions about my dogs. When I answered those questions (again, via email), I received information on what was likely contributing to my dogs’ issues (itching, itching, and more itching). I didn’t mention Emma’s coat or depleted energy. VeRUS then sent me samples of their food.

The first thing VeRUS had going for it was the No Recall.
The second thing was that a person contacted me.
Then (#3) they sent me SAMPLES instead of a coupon.

I bought a bag of VeRUS – their Advanced Opticoat formula. My dogs’ itching stopped almost completely. I say almost because they are outside a lot, and Texas has fire ants and mosquitoes. Not to mention Emma likes to get in the pool. So itching never truly goes away. I expected the improvement in the itching. What I didn’t expect was the real improvement in their coats. Both dogs’ coats became increasingly soft and shinier. Emma, as a Golden, gets a haircut about 3 times a year to keep her from being too hot. Her coat, as it grew back from her very short cut, was a LOT like it was when she was a puppy. So soft, so fluffy! It also grew back really fast.

So, benefit #4 was the actual improved coat.

Finally, there was the improved energy. My little dog is a bundle of energy all the time. Emma has gone from a simple walk everywhere to running and twirling. She barks a lot; she’s happy (of course, since she’s a Golden), and she RUNS. She seems to really enjoy running again.

So there you have it, FIVE benefits from one dog food. FIVE improvements in a short time. FIVE things that got better on a dog who is 10 years old. It’s like she got a few years back from her youth.

This food is fantastic! If you’re interested in trying this food with your dog, go to http://www.verus.com and fill out their contact page.

I would like to add my 2 cents’ worth here.
I have been feeding Verus dog food for years. It really is as good as Rescue Mutt claims. My dogs are healthy, happy, and active. We don’t spend unnecessary time at the vet with funky ailments or itchy skin. All of my dogs are rescues and seeing the changes in their coats and their overall health from when I get them to just a few weeks on Verus is amazing. I always fill out the contact form when I get a new dog and the Verus people will engage in an email discussion to help me get the transition to their food right and to make sure I’m feeding the right thing for the new dog. I feed 2 formulas of Verus: The Coldwater Fish formula for the younger rescue who used to have dry skin; the Adult Maintenance for my senior rescue, and a combination of the 2 for my third, middle aged rescue.
It is really great food. Contact them at http://www.veruspetfoods.com

      More info!
I decided to try a different ‘flavor’ of VeRUS – Life Advantage. This is a chicken, brown rice, & oat formula. There is NO discernable scent to this food! No icky dog food smell. No icky dead-thing smell. It still has added Omega-3 & freeze-dried Live Probiotics. My little rescue mutt LOVES it. She was okay with the Advanced Opticoat, but she LOVES this flavor!
