Roman, a 12-year-old boy from Texas, has made it his mission to help shelter dogs find their forever homes. Since the age of four, Roman has been visiting shelters with his mom, making videos to showcase the dogs in need of adoption. With the support of his family, Roman has helped over 4,800 dogs find loving homes through his organization, Project Freedom Ride.

Roman’s journey began when he learned that dogs without homes would eventually have to go to heaven. With the innocence of a four-year-old, he decided to fix the problem. Roman and his mom started visiting shelters to make videos featuring the dogs up for adoption. They focused on the dogs that were more scared and shut down, as they needed the most help.

Over time, Roman’s efforts expanded beyond making videos. He and his family began fostering shelter dogs in their home until they could find them permanent families. This experience allowed Roman to form close bonds with the dogs and ensure they were cared for before finding their forever families.

In 2015, Roman started Project Freedom Ride to transport dogs from high-kill shelters in Texas to places like Washington, where there are more adopters but fewer dogs. Since its inception, the organization has helped more than 4,800 dogs find homes through transports, videos, and fostering.

One of the many success stories from Project Freedom Ride is Bolt, a dog Roman and his family fostered. Roman spent his summer break bonding with Bolt, taking him for walks, and giving him treats. When it was time for Bolt to meet his forever family, Roman’s dad and a family friend drove the dog from Georgia to Florida for the happy reunion.

Bolt is now thriving in his new home, with dog siblings and a loving family. Roman’s efforts have not only changed the lives of thousands of dogs but also brought joy to the families who have adopted them. Roman’s dedication to helping shelter dogs find homes is a testament to the power of compassion and the impact one person can make, no matter their age. His work with Project Freedom Ride continues to save lives and create happy endings for dogs in need.
