Celebrity Dogs Who Use Their Fame To Do Good

| October 27, 2015

Thanks to the internet, dogs can be famous more easily than ever. Sure, Pal (who played Lassie) had fans, but he didn’t have his own Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts with hundreds of thousands of avid fans world-wide. We are also pretty sure he never did country-wide tours like Manny the Frenchie just completed. Even better, the new era of “celeb dogs” are using their fame to not just get extra treats and a bigger dog house, but many of them are giving back through charities. Know of another famous dog that does “good”? Tell us in the comments!

#1 – Boo

There is much more to Boo than his “World’s Cutest Dog” title and subsequent stuffed animal deal. He has used his HUGE following (Over 17 million Facebook and 40K Instagram fans) to raise funds for charities throughout the year, including over $30k for Charity: Water, as well as funds for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital’s Pet Therapy Program and most recently posing for pictures to raise money for Operation Smile

#2 – Manny The Frenchie

Manny the adorable Frenchie that has attracted world-wide fame with his funny memes and cute looks donates to almost more charities than you can count, including: several bulldog rescues, Special Olympics, Jason Heigl Foundation, ASPCA, American Cancer Society, Best Friends Animals Society, Eastwood Ranch Foundation, Philippine Red Cross, Max Fund, Almost Home Foundation, and UNICEF! He just recently finished his US tour, which raised money for local shelters and rescues in each city he visited.

#3 – Tuna Melts My Heart

This adorably awkward pup that has become a poster child for adoption. Since he was a rescue, he helps raise money for shelters and nonprofits such as Best Friends Animal Society.

#4 – SURFice Dog Ricochet

Ricochet is famous FOR all the good charity work she does – which just makes her a superstar! Not only does she constantly fundraise on her site for varies organizations that help children with disabilities, she performs charity work. She is often seen surfing with disabled children – giving them a once-in-a-lifetime experience and feeling of freedom they could not get anywhere else. She is an amazing gift to this World.

#5 –  Toast Meets World

Toast is a former puppy mill breeding dog who, due to improper care, had to have all her teeth removed when she was rescued. Now toothless, she uses her fame to raise puppy mill awareness through fashion, like her tote bag “French Toast.” A portion of each sale went to the Hearst’s organization, Friends of Finn that fund puppy mill raids and vet care.
