While we all absolutely adore our four-legged friends, when they grow up, their “puppy breath” we grew to love quickly becomes a thing of the past. Licking up dirt, dog food and treats, and eating things they aren’t supposed to eat starts to take a toll on their mouth.
Bad breath is the result of a build-up of odor producing bacteria in your dog’s mouth, lungs, or gut. Persistent bad breath that seems to get worse can indicate that your dog needs a better dental care regimen or that something is wrong in his gastrointestinal tract, teeth and gums, liver, or kidneys. If you know for sure that your dog’s bad breath isn’t something more serious, this treat is surely the treat for you!

Preheat your oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Now, in a large bowl mix together flour, egg and coconut oil. Work it into a dough and until combined. Now you are going to throw in the parsley and mint and incorporate evenly. Once mixture is combined, flour a surface to roll out your dough to approx 1/4″ thickness. Use a cookie cutter shape to make your treats. Now all you need to do it place them on the baking sheet you lined earlier, pop in the oven for 30-35 minutes until slightly golden around edges. Let cool and serve up to your best buddies!
Parsley contains a unique combination of volatile oil compounds. While freshening bad breath, aiding in memory loss and being loaded with fiber, this treat is sure to make your pup beg for more! Mint oils also aid in foul breath. Next time you plan on picking up a puppy tooth brush, try out these treats, too!
