Sharon Bertozzi noticed a sick dog curled up on her porch for four hours, so she told her pals about it. It’s not unusual to read stories of stray dogs in poor condition, so when Sharon Bertozzi observed a sick dog sleeping on her doorstep for four hours, she informed her friends about it.

However, the surprise came later on when she realized that this “dogwas not actually a dog at all.

She immediately called City of Folsom Animal Services to get the coyote some help. When rescuers arrived, they took a closer look at this animal and discovered that it was really a young coyote with an awful case of mange.

They immediately took the coyote back to their clinic where she was treated for her mange as well as dehydration. They decided to name her Princess and eventually transferred her to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue where she would receive further treatment. Rescuers refused to give up on her, and after a long struggle, she perked up. She was using the litterbox again and eating regularly when she was given a medicated bath by caretakers there.

Once Princess had recovered from a sickness, she was able to return back into the wild. The animal rescue center put her in Sierra Wildlife Rescue where she was able to interact with other coyote while simultaneously recovering from a recent illness.

Soon after, Princess and her all new coyote friends were released back into the wild on over 800 acres of beautiful open roaming land.
