When a dog is labeled as a “bite risk,” it can be challenging to find someone willing to take on the responsibility of fostering and rehabilitating them. However, one woman decided to take on this challenge and help a fearful dog transform into a loving companion. This heartwarming story demonstrates the power of patience, understanding, and love in helping a dog overcome its fears and find a forever home.

The rescue dog was so fearful that she would not even come near the front of her crate when her foster mom first brought her home. The woman knew she had to be patient and gentle with the dog, so she started by offering treats to help build trust. She discovered that the dog was afraid of her hands but not of the treats, so she used this to her advantage by petting the dog with the treat in her hand.

Slowly but surely, the dog began to trust her foster mom and allowed her to pet her lower back for a few seconds at a time. After several failed attempts, the woman was finally able to coax the dog out of her crate and take her for a walk around the block. The pup seemed to enjoy the walk and even leaned on her foster mom when they returned home.

With time and persistence, the pup came out of her shell and let go of her fearful habit of nipping at people. She was officially ready to go to her forever home. The rescue organization that had initially reached out to the foster mom about the dog informed her that the mother of one of their board members was looking for a dog to adopt. It was a perfect fit!

The pup’s new mom didn’t want to keep her in her crate but knew that’s where she felt safe. She came up with the idea of purchasing a comfy bed with a cover, which allowed the dog to feel secure while still being able to interact with her surroundings.

The dog’s transformation from a fearful, bite-risk animal to a loving companion is nothing short of a miracle! We are elated that the deserving pup found her happiness!
