Why are so many pets euthanized in shelters? The answer is simple: it’s a problem of supply and demand.

In many areas, such as Southern California, the supply of shelter pets is high, leading to overcrowding in underfunded animal shelters. Because the demand for shelter pets is not high enough in these areas, euthanasia is very common. This is tragic, because these are perfectly good pets with many years of love left to give.

A Simple Solution to a Complex Problem

In recent years, several organizations have sprung up with an innovative solution to this problem: transporting high risk pets from high kill shelters to no-kill shelters where there are more demand for pets.

For example, Wings of Rescue, a 501(c)3 formed in 2013, utilizes an all volunteer team of pilots that flies at risk pets across the country. To date, they’ve saved an astonishing 26,000 pets from being put down.

How You Can Help

The challenge, of course, is that transporting animals across the country, whether by ground or by air, isn’t cheap.

That’s where the Second Chance Movement™ comes into play. For each item purchased from this new product line, you’ll fund a specific number of miles of air and ground transport costs, effectively moving shelters animals from danger to safety.

Your support unlocks a second chance for these animals and truly provides the key to a new life!

The Second Chance Movement ™ has partnered with GreaterGood.org to donate travel miles for every product in the Second Chance Movement collection to charities that facilitate the transportation of adoptable pets from areas of low-demand to areas of high-demand. Many of these innocent pets are on death row and would have been euthanized in just a few days if they were not rescued.

The donations are provided as a grant from GreaterGood.org to several benefiting charities, including Wings of Rescue, that provide both air and ground transports from shelters.

Your support unlocks a second chance for these animals and truly provides the key to a new life!
