How You Helped This Senior Dog Find A Forever Home

| July 23, 2017

Part of each sale through the iHeartDogs store is donated to Greater Good, which helps support various charities. Thanks to customers like you, happy endings, like the one below, are made possible.

Chica is a nine-year-old dog and the longest term resident of one of Pets for Patriots’ shelter partners in Washington state. She had repeatedly been adopted and surrendered, unable to find the right person or family for more than a year. During one of these temporary adoptions, she was hit by a car and suffers chronic arthritis as a result. Due to the instability in her previous life, Chica has severe separation anxiety and injured herself in attempts to get out of any kennel or crate.

Brian retired from the Air Force after more than 20 years of service to our country. He and his wife, Lara, were not quite ready to adopt but decided to foster Chica through Lara’s volunteerism with this particular shelter. Needless to say, the rest is history!

Chica chose Brian and Lara as her people and has started to come out of her shell. We hear she loves the long walks they take together, enjoys lounging in the sun, and is quite the “cuddle bug.”

Older pets like Chica are among those available for adoption through Pets for Patriots, and they are particularly delighted when a senior pet finds a loving home.

When you purchase items like Camo Paracord Bronze Flag Bracelet through iHeartDogs, you’re helping to pair dogs like Chica with veterans in loving forever homes!
