Many dog parents have had a pet run away or come close to it. The moment you realize your furry friend is no longer where you thought they were is terrifying, especially since you have no idea when they’ll show up again. Luckily, new pet technology is making it easier to locate pets in emergencies, so a missing pet can be found almost immediately.

The Invoxia Smart Dog Collar is known as “the most advanced GPS dog collar,” so I tested out one of these collars with my dog Mabel. Even though Mabel has never gotten lost, there have been times when she has wandered off at my family’s private campground. A collar like this could’ve prevented me from having to run around and call her name in a panic because, according to Invoxia’s website, it can locate your dog in real-time.

What is the Invoxia Smart Dog Collar?

The Invoxia collar is an advanced smart dog collar that not only has GPS tracking but also tracks your dog’s health and activity. It can monitor your dog’s exercise, heart rate, and respiratory rate to keep your dog both safe and healthy. Plus, its battery can last several weeks.

My First Impressions of the Invoxia Collar

I received the small size for the Invoxia collar, which is currently the smallest size available. They also have medium and large collars. Since Mabel is only about 15 pounds, the small is still a little large and bulky for her, but I was informed of this before receiving the product. The collar came with two small straps (black and yellow), a charging cord, and an informational packet about how to set it up.

When I picked up the product for the first time, it was heavier than I expected. I was worried the size and weight would be too uncomfortable for my little dog (or for any dog). However, once I put it on Mabel, she didn’t seem bothered by it at all. I had to adjust it as tight as possible for it to fit her, but once it was on securely, she was able to walk, rest, and play normally while wearing it.

Reviewing the Invoxia Dog Collar’s Features

Once the Invoxia collar is charged, you need to download an app on your phone and connect the collar using Bluetooth. The process of setting it up was easy and only took a few minutes. It asked me a few questions about Mabel and then the collar linked to the app without any issues.

I had Mabel wear the collar several times, including on a walk, in the yard, and around the house to see how accurately it would assess her location and activity.

GPS Tracking

To me, the GPS tracking is the most important feature. So many dogs go missing and not all of them find their way home, so I would hate for that to happen to Mabel. Whenever the collar is charged and the Bluetooth on my phone is on, I can see exactly where the collar is.

While I was walking Mabel with the collar, my app kept updating to show where she walked. Thus, if she somehow got outside without a leash, I would be able to quickly find her using the app. The battery seems to last a long time, so you’ll have lots of time to locate your dog before the collar dies. I’ve only had to charge it once so far, and the battery has barely gone down in the several sessions I’ve used it.

This tool would be great for when I go camping. My family has private land that we camp on, so the dogs are often off-leash. However, I have to keep a close eye on Mabel. If she sees a squirrel, she could quickly disappear. With this collar, I would feel more comfortable letting her roam around because I can always check my phone if I don’t know where she went.

Health/Activity Tracking

The health and activity tracking are cool features, but I’m not sure I would use them regularly. The health tab of the collar shows the dog’s resting heart rate and respiratory rate, which can help you identify health concerns early on. Then, the activity tab shows the amount of time your dog was active, breaking it down into categories like walking, running, and resting. Since Mabel is a lazy dog, most of her time wearing the collar consisted of her resting.

For me, the health and activity tracking took longer to update than the location tracking. After taking Mabel for a walk, it took at least 15 minutes before it showed that she had been active, but I’m not sure if that issue is on my end or not. Luckily, it always showed up eventually, so I just had to be patient. If I used these tools long-term, I believe they would be a great way to spot any changes in Mabel’s routine, which would be helpful information for vet visits.

Would I Recommend Invoxia?

After testing out the Invoxia Smart Dog Collar, I would definitely recommend it to dog parents looking for a useful tracking tool, whether they need it for location, health, or both. Compared to other tracking collars I’ve seen, this is by far the most accurate, and I’m impressed with how long the collar stays charged.

However, I wouldn’t recommend leaving it on 24/7. It’s bulky and a little heavy, so I imagine it would be uncomfortable for long periods regardless of the dog’s size. I think the best time to put it on your dog would be when they’re outside or when there’s a higher risk of them slipping out the front door, such as when you have people coming and going often. Any time you’re in the same room as them is also a good time to keep it on them for health and activity monitoring.

Who Would Benefit Most From This Product?

Anyone with a medium or large dog who loves to go on outdoor adventures could benefit greatly from this collar. Even if your dog is on a leash during hikes or at the park, there’s always a risk that something could go wrong. So, by having them wear this collar when out in public or in the yard, you’ll be able to track them if they ever escape.

It’s also an excellent choice for pet parents who want to track their dog’s health. Most location-tracking pet devices don’t have as many additional features as this one, so you have the benefit of knowing where your dog is at all times while also keeping track of their heart rate, respiratory rate, and activity levels. That way, you can alert your vet right away if you notice any concerns.

What Could Be Improved?

The only thing that I think could be improved would be making more options for small dogs. I’m sure the size and weight of the product is an important part of its effectiveness, but I’m worried that not all small dogs would be comfortable carrying around this collar. Mabel didn’t seem to have an issue, but a dog weighing less than her might. Luckily, I believe the company is working on making an XS size to better accommodate all breeds in the future.
