Dogs are the most loyal creatures on earth. They will protect us and do their best to help us no matter what.
And dogs are never to young to be heroes. A puppy named Naida helped save a little girl who got herself lost in the wilderness of Siberia. The woods are infested with wolves and bears, but miraculously the little girl was safe.
It all started when the girl’s father, Rodion Chikitova, went for a trip to his native village. He didn’t know that his four-year-old daughter, Karina, followed him. And when the puppy Naida saw Karina heading out, she tagged along as well.
Karina got lost in the woods. The child’s mother didn’t know she was lost until days after when she spoke with the father on the phone. She thought Karina was with her father. And Karina’s father didn’t know that his daughter went out to follow him.
Search and rescue went on for five days but there was no trace of her. The weather was cold, and there were wild animals in the area. Rescuers even had to fend off a bear while they were searching for Karina. The chances of finding the little girl were very slim.
Then after nine days, Naida the pup came back home. Their hearts sank thinking that with Naida by Karina’s side, she would have kept her warm and protected her. But Naida came back home for a reason. She led the rescuers to where Karina was.
Miraculously, Karina survived. Aside from some mosquito bites and some scratches, she was okay. Karina told her rescuers that she ate berries and drank water from the streams to survive.
Naida the puppy became a hero. A man named Nikolay Chochchasov, was so inspired by Naida and Karina’s story that he made a bronze statue in their likeness.
Karina is so lucky to have Naida with her. Thanks to Naida, Karina was found and she was rescued. We believe Naida deserve a big reward for helping save Karina!
