When it comes to politics, there are often many disagreements. No matter what the result of an election is, there’s always someone that will get upset. However, that might not be the case for Georgetown, Colorado’s new honorary mayor. This vote was chosen unanimously by the Town of Georgetown Selectmen. The reason this new mayor is so perfect is that he’s not a person at all, but instead, he’s a fluffy and lovable dog!

The Election

The new mayor of Georgetown is Parker the Snow Dog! He’s a 2-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog that has stolen the hearts of many fans.

Parker is an icon in Colorado because he’s the Loveland Ski Area’s mascot and the therapy dog for the Rocky Mountain Village Easterseals. He’s helped so many people in the community, which is why everyone agreed that he would be the perfect mayor!

“Our biggest project is Parker’s work with the Rocky Mountain Village Easterseals camp in Empire. It’s right in our backyard. It’s one of the best camps for disabled kids, and they’re doing great stuff out there,” said Dustin Schaefer, Parker’s dad.

Schaefer created an Instagram page for Parker to help him gain more fans. On his social media, Parker posts photos of him helping others, hanging out at the ski area, and attending Broncos games. Schaefer says that Parker loves all the attention, and he would never put Parker in the spotlight if the pup didn’t want to.

“Parker does so much good for the state of Colorado. He is pretty much the dog ambassador for the state,” Schaefer said. “It’s just great to see people smile when they see Parker.”

Schaefer even created adorable election posters to help spread the word of Parker’s potential new role. Word spread quickly, and in no time, everyone was cheering Parker on. A dog for mayor might not be a traditional thing, but everyone knew he would do a great job!

Introducing the New Mayor!

There was no hesitation when it came to who the perfect honorary mayor was. Parker was elected in a heartbeat!

Parker attended the ceremony in a handsome outfit, complete with a tie. He took many pictures with the Town of Georgetown Selectmen. In each photo, he looks proud and excited to take on such a wonderful opportunity.

Parker truly deserves this new role, and there’s no doubt that he’ll make the town proud. Dogs are the sweetest, most caring creatures out there, so maybe more places should consider electing a dog for mayor too! After all, how can you resist those adorable puppy dog eyes?
